Lions Head Villa

The Lions Head Villa is a remarkable property situated at the base of the mountain overlooking the Atlantic Seaboard and the ocean. The villa is built on multiple levels, featuring two separate maisonettes that can function independently or be connected to each other. The villa boasts a generous infusion of North-facing light that plays off the Egyptian limestone surfaces and repurposed French oak ceiling beams. Each maisonette comprises three luxurious ensuite bedrooms, spacious living and dining areas, expansive country-style kitchens equipped with elegant French copper ware, appliances, and other classic items sourced from places like Saint-Tropez.

The interiors are adorned with refined linen and leather furnishings, Vicuña wool throws, Ralph Lauren fabrics, dark mahogany bars, and an array of carefully curated art pieces and antique collectables. The presence of the owner’s great-grandmother’s art collection, which is displayed prominently, adds a sentimental touch and connects the villa to a legacy of artistic expression.

Stepping out into the terraced garden, guests are greeted by a Mediterranean ambience featuring pencil Cypresses, olive trees emerging from exposed stone, rows of lavender, rose bushes, hedges, and flourishing herbs. The garden is alive with the sounds of sunbirds and starlings that flit around a water feature reminiscent of a tranquil Provençal scene.

The outdoor spaces of the villa are equally captivating. There are three swimming pools where guests can bask in the sun and enjoy refreshing drinks. Wooden tables are scattered around, providing inviting spots for gatherings. The long verandah with an open outdoor fireplace and lounging area, as well as a reed pergola with a pizza oven, offer different ways to appreciate the surroundings.

One of the villa’s most enchanting aspects is its panoramic view of the ocean, the Lion’s Head mountain, and the surrounding treetops. In addition, the house comes fully equipped with a permanent staff member who can drive (there is a car he uses so he can do the shopping for the guests), and he can cook as well. The house is fully equipped for load-shedding and features solar, inverters, batteries and a generator for extended periods of load shedding.
